1st Timothy 1 & 2: Short Outline.
The opening of Paul’s first letter to Timothy reveals a lot about the Christian life. In just these two chapters Paul lays out an outlook of the essentials of the Christian life. Things to do, and things to be aware of. As we see in the outline below.
False Teachers = Those who teach the things that contradict scripture. Those who get lost in teaching speculation (1st Timothy 1:4). Also those who promote endless thinking rather than Godly stewardship in the faith. One danger of falling into false teaching is to desire teaching without proper instruction and education. This is why it is important to train believers desiring to teach. If you feel called to teach and preach, dive deep into the study of God’s word. Take heed to the warnings Paul provides here.
Proper Doctrine = Jesus came to save sinners. By His death, burial, and resurrection, grace overflows to the sinner, and by mercy, the sinner is pardoned from their sin. This is done to showcase God’s glory. (1st Timothy 1:12-20). There is only one God, the Father, and there is only one meditator between God and man, that is Christ Jesus. Jesus is the only sufficient ransom for our sins. We sinned. God Loved. Jesus came, died, resurrected. Grace pardoned. (1st Timothy 2:4-6)
Our Response = Pray that all may come to know Jesus personally and intimately. That they may come to saving faith in Jesus. Let no soul go un-prayed for. Reach out to ALL. ALL means ALL. Preach the gospel to everyone and let God take care of the rest. Also to pray for your leadership. Pray for anyone and everyone who leads.
Instruct the Church = Exhort to follow and live out the practical application of the Gospel.
