To Trust in Suffering.
“Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.” - 1st Peter 4:19 (ESV)
Suffering is often only interpreted as physical pain. That if it is not physical torture, you can’t possibly experience suffering. The Greek word used in the passage is “pascho” which means suffering or experiencing ill-treatment. To suffer while doing God’s will doesn’t always mean physical torment. It can just be ill treatment so to speak. Often this can be experienced in all sorts of ways. What I don’t mean is, that someone ignoring your Facebook rant is suffering. Because it really isn’t. Suffering according to God’s will is walking as an outcast for the purpose God has called you to. This can be loneliness. This could be slander. This could be acts of hate. In the midst, to entrust your soul to a faithful God is a submission that brings you to be still and know that He is God. The greek translation of entrust is “ to set before or place beside.”
Have you taken your soul and set it before the Lord? He is trustworthy, dependable, and believable. What He says is true. When He says he is with you, He is. Do not grow weary of walking with the Lord. This world won’t always agree or appreciate when you stand for His way and His truth. But entrust your soul to God and he will carry you through.
