The Lord is Sovereign
How long, O God, is the foe to scoff? Is the enemy to revile your name forever? 11Why do you hold back your hand, your right hand? Take it from the fold of your garment and destroy them! 12Yet God my King is from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. - Psalm 74:10-12 (ESV)
In Psalm 74, Asaph is crying out to the Lord and begging God to move. He points out how the enemy seems like he is winning, yet the Lord has His hands in His pockets. Are you okay with God’s sovereignty? Asaph cries and begs the Lord to remember his covenant. Did the Lord forget his covenant? Of course not. Yet it felt that way. How often are we in that same place mentally? We feel like the Lord is watching everything unfold while keeping His hands in His pockets. God acts according to His wisdom.
“Father, help me to posture my heart in surrender. Speak softly to me so that I may feel your hope again.”
