Sin Entangles.
The cords of death encircled me and the torrents of destruction terrified me. 5 The cords of Sheol surrounded me; the snares of death confronted me. 6 In my distress I called on the Lord, and cried for help to my God; He heard my voice from His temple, and my cry for help came before Him to His ears. - Psalm 18:4-6 (MEV)
This life we live brings about it a great many joys, challenges, sorrows, and what often feels like complete destruction. For the one who is in Christ, this is not final. We look forward with an eternal hope in the Son of Man. However, even for the believer, destruction will assail us, the cords of death and Sheol will look to entangle us, and we will be confronted by the snares of death. We will go through heartbreak, pain, suffering, we will be attacked. The promise of the Gospel in this life is not one of deliverance to comfort on this earth, but rather one of eternal deliverance to the presence of God.
The ways of the world will seek to distract us. Snares are meant to trap. To entangle. To slow down the target so the trapper/hunter has an easier time getting his prey. Death is the final reward for sin. For the wages of sin is death. When you are confronted with the snare of sin in your life, do you ignore it and ultimately be caught in it? Or do you walk away from it? “Be killing sin or sin be killing you.” - John Buyon
The Lord hears our cries. Do you truly cry out to Him in time of need? Even when we feel like He is silent, He listens.
