He Is Worthy: Day 7
“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.” - Jude 1:24-25
Here we come to the end of our 7-day journey through Jude’s letter. While it ends with a simple benediction, I believe it also serves as a beautiful reminder of God’s holiness. We have walked through being kept for Jesus, the call to contend for the faith, sin’s severity, and the state of a sinful world. It was customary for letters in those days to end with a blessing, benediction, or prayer of some sort. They always pointed to the unmatched nature of God’s character. We serve a God who is worthy of all our praise and adoration. Worthy of our time, talents, energy, and our obsession. This does not mean that we have something that the Lord needs, nor is anything we bring even worthy to be received by the Lord. Instead, He is worthy and deserving of all we could think or imagine. Yet, He delights to walk with us, He delights to be in communion with us. What a thought! A righteous and holy God looks upon us with compassion and desires to be with us.
There are so many times throughout life that I often will walk through forgetting the wonder of just how worthy He is. I get caught up with the things God can do for me, or what I should do for His kingdom, that I often forget to just marvel and worship for no other reason than because He is worthy of it. Do you ever find yourself in the same boat? How often do we get caught up in the cycle of Christian/Church culture that we forget to sit back and ponder on just how majestic, wonderful, holy, He is? Think about it, what faith are we contending for? Why does it matter to guard ourselves from sin? Why remain steadfast to the truth of the gospel? It is all in response to what He has done on our behalf to bring us back into right relationship with Him.
Takeaway: We don’t just worship because of what He has done for us, but because of simply WHO He is. He is worthy.
